NDTV also Report It is said that a group of e-commerce companies including Amazon and Flipkart have decided to show the ‘country of origin’ on their new products and they will start doing so within 2 weeks. The move follows the rule being implemented for retailers on the e-marketplace portal operated by the state government.
The move comes after China pulled out Indian-made products and clashed between the two neighbors at India’s disputed Himalayan border site.
However, on the definition of “country of origin”, companies have asked the government to clarify their stand, as some products are assembled in India, but their components are imported from China or any other countries.
Of Bloomberg Report As per, Amazon India and Flipkart agree to ask their retailers to display country of origin for all products.
However, Amazon, Flipkart and DPIIT did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
