This latest service is being rolled out on Google Search, which is starting with Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada and English language support, later it will be added to other languages. Initially, it only shows the results of 6 OTT providers, namely Disney + Hotstar, Google Play Movies & TV, Netflix, SonyLIV, Voot, and YouTube. Amazon Prime Video and Indian streaming platforms like AltBalaji and Zee5 etc. are not included in this list. However, in the coming years, other streaming providers may be added to this.
How to use this facility?
To suggest all streaming providers shows and movies, all you have to do is search on Google by typing “good shows to watch” or “what to watch”. There will be different zones available for you to choose from in this service. After this, Google will show you the result. Similarly, Google also gives you the option of viewing the content available on any one streaming platform. To watch a single platform show, you can search as an example – what to watch on Netflix?
To help you, on the top right of the result, you will see the ‘Edit Providers’ button. Where you can choose your subscription platform. The search engine through this provides personalized recommedation to the user. Apart from this, you can also take suggestions of Bollywood movies by searching “Bollywood movies in 2019” from Google.
Other features will be found on the mobile app
You will also find some other features on the Google mobile app. For example, by clicking on one of the results in the list of search results, you will be given information related to that show and film. It will contain information related to the show’s starcast, brief synopsis and genre. In the pop-up screen you will be told on which platform the show is being streamed. At the same time, in the Watchlist feature, you will have the facility to save your favorite shows and movies.
