Diesel, Petrol prices remain unchanged for 21st straight day– Check fuel prices in metro cities on October 23, 2020

NEW DELHI: Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged on Thursday as state-run oil marketing companies kept fuel prices steady.

Rates vary from state to state depending on the incidence of VAT. Nearly two-thirds of the retail price is taxes.

In September, diesel prices saw their first decline since mid-March, with Indian Oil Corp (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BBCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) suspending tariffs for 82 days. Fuels against falling cost.

Diesel rates rose to Rs 1,255 per liter between June 7 and oil companies began adjusting prices to July 25. Diesel prices in the country have remained unchanged since July 25, with the exception of Delhi, where the VAT reduction rate is Rs 8.38 per liter. Petrol price has been hiked by Rs 9.17 per liter from June 7 to June 29 before the suspension. The revision cycle resumed on August 16, after which rates have risen by Rs 1.51. Overall, petrol price has gone up by Rs 10.68 since June 7.

State-owned fuel retailers are revising daily petrol and diesel rates based on the average price of benchmark fuel over the past 15 days.
