Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets in the 40th edition of the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday at the Dubai International Stadium.
The Sunrisers, who chased down an equal target of 155 for victory, lost captain-cum-opener David Warner and his opening partner Johnny Barstow cheaply for four and 10, respectively.
Subsequently, Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar not only hit fifty each, but also helped Sunrisers chase down the target in 18.1 overs with a massive partnership of 140 for the third wicket.
Pandey finished his innings unbeaten on 83 off 47 balls, including four fours and eight highs. Shankar, who was adorned with six fours, was unbeaten on 52 off 51 balls.
For the Rajasthan Royals, Joffre Archer was the only batsman to add two wickets to his tally.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad, who won the toss, asked Rajasthan Royals to bat first.
The Rajasthan Royals failed to counter Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowling attack and scored 154 for six in their allotted 20 overs.
Sanju Samson and Ben Stokes were the top scorers for Rajasthan Royals with 36 and 30 runs respectively.
Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers Jason Holder scored three runs for 33 runs while Vijay Shankar and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.
Manish Pandey was named Man of the Match for his match-winning performance.
With this win, Sunrisers have now advanced to fifth place in the IPL 2020 standings with four wins from 10 matches. The Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, have been relegated from seventh to sixth with four wins in 11 matches.
