NEW DELHI: Markets on profit margins in index majors opened green on Friday amid positive indications of global markets.
The BSE Sensex was up 178.45 points, or 0.44 per cent, at 40,736.94, while the NSE Nifty was up 57.30 points, or 0.48 per cent, at 11,953.75.
Power Grid, Maruti, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, ICICI Bank, RIL, M&M, Asian Paint, Bajaj Finserv, NTPC, Titan and Bajaj Finserv rose 2.79%. On the other hand, HUL, Ultrasem, HCL Tech, Infosys, Axis Bank, Kotak Bank, Nestle and ITC fell 0.67 per cent.
At the previous session, the Sensex was down 148.82 points, or 0.37 per cent, at 40,558.49, while the broader NSE Nifty was down 41.20 points, or 0.35 per cent, at 11,896.45.
Foreign institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 1,118.46 crore on a net basis on Thursday, according to transaction data.
Among Asian counterparts, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index rose 0.3%. Shares of Australia’s S&P ASX200 and MSCI stocks around the world are roughly flat. Hong Kong’s Hong Cheng index futures down 0.11%, Reuters reports.
