Kings XI Punjab beat Delhi by 5 wickets in the 38th match of IPL 2020. With a resounding victory, Punjab kept alive the hope of reaching the IPL 2020 playoffs. Delhi Capitals scored 165 for Kings XI Punjab, led by KL Rahul, who lost 5 wickets in 19 overs.

Though Punjab won the match by a margin of fifty by Nicholas Pooran, Chris Gayle’s stormy innings won the hearts of the fans. Pooran was dismissed for 53 off 28 balls. During the match, there was a time when Punjab lost quick wickets and faced a major setback, but after Puran, Glenn Maxwell stabilized his team’s sinking ship and won by 5 wickets.

Nicholas Pooran was batting only 10 runs when he was narrowly saved from the run-out. In the 8th over of the Punjab innings, Ravichandran Aswin bowled a soft stroke to the off side and Puran wanted to steal a quick single. Puran came out of his lap, but seeing Dhawan pick up the ball, he started coming back but DC’s Shikhar Dhawan threw the ball fast and wicket keeper Rishab spit towards the ball.

Dhawan’s throw was slightly away from the wicket-keeper’s ball, in such a situation, he grabbed the ball and tried to hit the stumps by throwing the ball exactly towards the stumps in Dhoni’s style, but the ball did not hit the stumps, which prevented Nicholas Puran from getting run out.

Nicholas Pooran took full advantage of his second career and quickly started scoring runs. He hit 5 fours and 3 sixes in his half innings. Puran was later expelled by Rabada, but by then he had done half the work for Punjab.

Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan’s unbeaten 106 off 61 balls, Delhi won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 164 for five. Dhawan hit 12 fours and three sixes, but no other batsman has scored more than 20 runs.
