Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, will take on defending champions Mumbai Indians in the 41st edition of the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday at the Sharjah Cricket Ground.
The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians are third in the IPL 13 standings with a total of six wins from the nine matches they have played so far.
CSK, on the other hand, have three wins from 10 games in the eight-team table.
Four-time champions Mumbai Indians will advance to the clash following the defeat of Kings XI Punjab in a double super over thriller to be played at the Dubai International Stadium on October 18.
CSK, on the other hand, are coming off this match after embracing a seven-wicket defeat against Steve Smith-led Rajasthan Royals in the previous match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
In the previous clash between the two sides as the opening match of the tournament, CSK recorded a five-wicket win over the Rohit Sharma-led team on September 19.
CSK will settle the scores with MI Chennai entitlement to secure their second win against Mumbai Indians this season and keep their hopes alive for a place in the playoffs.
As far as head-to-head recording between the two sides is concerned, the MI is slightly on the edge rather than CSK going into the conflict. The two sides have faced each other in a total of 29 matches, with the Mumbai title winning 17 times.
In the meantime, players on both sides will try to reach their personal milestones.
CSK Captain M.S. Dhoni needs six catches to reach 100 IPL catches for his owner, while Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis need two and one four to complete 300 and 200 IPL fours respectively.
Jaspreet Bhumra, on the other hand, is only three wickets away from being ashamed to reach 100 wickets in the Rich League.
