Hardik Pandya congratulated the Rajasthan Royals pair of Ben Stokes and Sanju Samson on their 8-wicket win over the Mumbai Indians on Sunday (October 25) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Stokes (107 * off 60 balls) and Samson (54 * off 31 balls) were unbeaten on 152 for the third wicket in the Mumbai Indians’ beautiful total of 195. Remaining with 10 balls. Stokes won his first IPL Tone Man of the Match award.
Pandya, who played brilliantly with 60 off just 21 balls (4×2, 6×7), was not shy away from praising both the opposition. He said at a post-match press conference: “I think they batted well, it worked their skills and execution … the credit goes to Sanju and Stokes, they batted well.”
Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. The Rajasthan Royals were good at controlling them till the middle overs, but Pandya took them to a solid 195/5 with one hand and started the firecracker frenzy in death. But, in the end, Pandya’s power attack was in vain as Mumbai lost their fourth match of the season.
“I think they took their chances and luck was on their side too. Many inside and outside edges went to the borders. Having said this, they pulled some great shots,” Pandya added.
However, the 27-year-old was not dissatisfied and did not focus on being positive “I think we need to correct our mistakes and focus on the positives,” he said.
However, the Mumbai Indians are top of the points table with 14 points. They will lock the horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore next Wednesday (October 28).
