IPL 2020: CSK becomes first team to be eliminated from play-offs after defeating RR MI

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the first team to be excluded from matches in the current edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) in the United Arab Emirates.

CSKA’s playoff berth was completely shattered after Rajasthan Royals beat defending champions Mumbai Indians by eight wickets in the 45th match of IPL 2020 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday (October 25).

This is the first time that the CSK team, which is the strongest in the playoffs in the IPL, will not make it. The three-time winner has always won a play-off berth in the Indian Premier League for 10 years.

Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians by two more points and moved up the ladder to sixth in the points table. CSK, meanwhile, continue to hit the table with six points from ten games, despite a medical win over Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In the thirteenth edition of the ISL CSK had their worst season with four wins from 12 round robin devices. With eight points in the kitty and two more games remaining, CSK are unlikely to go down in the knockouts.

Dhoni and his company have never been able to gather momentum this season, causing losses in the opening half of the match, which pushed them to the bottom half of the points table.

After the Dhoni-led team registered the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team led by Virat Kohli in match number 44 of the ISL 2020, CSK’s elimination from the prestigious tournament was by no means certain.

Speaking after CSK’s eight-wicket win over RCB, Dhoni stressed that Chennai did not have a chance to make the playoffs this season.

“You do some things, show a little more emotion (on the happy side) so the guys will be a little more confident and relaxed. If you don’t do well it will hurt, so you guys will not leave the games and we really don’t have a chance to make it to the playoffs. Leave out the math part of it, ”Dhoni told a post-match press conference.
