After a 69-run victory over Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the previous match of the current edition of the Indian Premier League (Game 22), David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are back in their best form for KL. Rahul’s division at 126/7 in the 43rd match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday 24 October.
From the spectacular length of form bowlers to the fielders under the skies for the catch, SRH, who won the toss, benefited from the first bang against Punjab, with star batsmen Gayle and Rahul falling quickly early in the game.
Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma and Jason Holder used every opportunity to suffocate the Punjab batsmen. SRH got the first break when Sandeep Sharma dismissed Punjab opener Mandeep Singh 17 (14).
This was followed by two key wickets in successive overs – KL Rahul 27 (26) and Chris Gayle 20 (20). Undoubtedly Rashid exhibited an impressive performance and impressed the cricketers with his magic delivery. He first removed Captain Rahul and strangled KXIP, then forcing Deepak Hooda to return to the pavilion. He finished his spelling with 2/14. Admirable!
Besides Khan, Jason Holder shone as a new man in today’s match, forcing Chris Gayle and Jordan to return to the pavilion very soon.
Speaking of Kings XI Punjab, it is clear that the team struggled with its batting unit. None of the star players were able to make a big contribution to the team this evening.
As of now, the team is in the same position as Hyderabad Kings XI Punjab. It remains to be seen who will record another win in their kitty in today’s exciting match that could go down the wire.
