Defending champions Mumbai Indians face Rajasthan Royals in the second match of the IPL-13 on Sunday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Mumbai are currently top of the points table with 14 points from 10 matches after seven wins and three defeats. If Mumbai win tonight, they will get two valuable points that will secure a place in the playoffs with 16 points.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals are seventh in the IPL 2020 points table with eight points from four matches, four wins and seven defeats. A win in this match will keep them in the playoff race, but to qualify they need to win all the remaining matches. Also, Rajasthan’s place in the playoffs depends on the performance of other teams.
MI captain Rohit Sharma did not play in the last match and was replaced by Kieran Pollard as captain. Rohit retired in the last match and he is expected to bat against Rajasthan today.
After Rohit’s arrival, it is certain that Saurav Tiwary will be on the bench for tonight’s game. Apart from this, there is no possibility of any change in the Mumbai squad.
The opening pair of Quinton de Kok and Rohit Sharma scored brilliantly throughout the season. Ishant Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav have strengthened the middle order, followed by Pollard, Hardik Pandya and his brother Krunal Pandya.
On the other hand, if we talk about Rajasthan, the form of Ben Stokes is something that worries the team. He has been batting as Rajasthan opener so far. Maybe the team management will try him in the middle order tonight and send Jose Butler to start the innings with senior Robin Uthappa.
In Rajasthan bowling, it depends on Joffra Archer and Karthik Tyagi. Both of these have handled Rajasthan bowling well so far and they are expected to perform well for the team in the coming matches as well.
