Rajasthan Royals star all-rounder Ben Stokes wanted his match-winning ton to “bring happiness” to his home. Rajasthan Stokes scored a massive 107 * against Mumbai Indians on Sunday (October 25) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Stokes returned to competitive cricket two months after the game. He was left out of England’s own series against Pakistan for personal reasons. The 29-year-old Stokes missed the entire series against Australia at home. Although the official reason has not been released, Stokes was caring for his ailing father in New Zealand.

“This is an emotional time for you. What ran through your mind when you raised your bat at this milestone tonight?” Ian Bishop asked Stokes in a post-match presentation.
“Yeah, things are a little tough at the moment, but I’m going to be a little comforted to be back home when things get a little tough, and this (inning) gave me some joy later,” Stokes replied.
Chasing 196, Stokes (107 * off 60 balls) opened the innings with Robin Uthappa. Although Uthappa and then captain Steve Smith were initially ruled out, Stokes played the role of the sheet anchor and teamed up with Sanju Samson (54 off 31 balls). Both of them scored 152 for the third wicket. In the end they won by 8 wickets.
Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. The Rajasthan Royals were good at controlling them until the middle overs, but Hardik Pandya (60 off 21 balls; 6×7, 4×2) single-handedly led the way to a solid 195/5, starting the firecracker frenzy at death. But, in the end, Pandya’s power attack was in vain as Mumbai lost their fourth match of the season.
The Rajasthan Royals now need two wins from two matches to qualify for the IPL 2020 playoffs.
