Dubai: Chennai Super Kings’ IPL campaign ends on Monday, which will be KKR’s next match, their first match without reaching the play – offs, but Mahendra Singh Dhoni wants his team to enjoy the next 12 hours while enduring a pain.
KKR will go up by 12 points and the win against KXIP on Monday will go up by 14 points. All three sides, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capital and Royal Challengers Bangalore, have already scored 14 points.
CSK, on the other hand, could go up to 12 points even if they win the next two games.
“It hurts when you are not performing well, so you try to inflate some emotions. So guys don’t give up the game. It can go away with the remaining 12 painful hours of matches. You have to enjoy the game wherever you are at the table is not important,” Dhoni said during the post-match presentation.
The last two games may be irrelevant, but the CSK captain wants his men to go out there and enjoy it.
“If you don’t enjoy cricket, it can be cruel and painful. So I’m glad the youngsters reacted.”
The eight-wicket win over RCB on Sunday was the performance that Dhoni always wanted from his team during the match.
“I felt it was a perfect game, everything was planned, and there was execution. We took wickets and kept them a little low overall.”
He praised spin bowlers Imran Tahir and Mitchell Sandner, while Rudraj Kejriwal also received praise from legends.
“The wicket was on the slow side, and the spinners did a good job. We were not very consistent in batting.
“Today, the start was very good. Ruth batted well. He supported himself to play known shots. When you look at the ball, if you look for four, you can get a six,” Dhoni said.
