Frauds are not uncommon during the festive season mostly pertaining Bank Frauds and in the event of a corona virus pandemic infection where most people are using online payments or the digital method of phone / net banking, hackers can use tips and tricks over the internet to empty your bank accounts.   BE AWARE BE SAFE

These are the six types of different bank frauds:

QR code fraud

QR code is one of the most common methods of disabling money through quick response code. Fraudsters send QR codes to mobile phones in the belief that the person will click the link. Hackers then scan the QR code of their mobile phone and undoubtedly withdraw money from the user’s bank account.

UPI connection fraud

It is important to know and understand how this scam works. Although this is the safest way to bank, now fraudsters are using this method to defraud people. Through UPI, the malicious user sends a debit link to someone who clicks on their link and enters their PIN, and the money is deducted from his account.

  1. Be always alert when you are clicking on any of the link received on WhatsApp or SMS.
  2. Ensure that you are clicking on the right link. 
  3. Initiate the transaction from your end if you know the person who has sent the link.
  4. Do not click on any unknown link to avoid such scams.

ATM card skimming

Card data are stolen from the magnetic strip while through ATM skimming, alternatively card data is also stolen by placing a device in the ATM card reader slot which has an inbuilt memory to store or record the data. After this, fraudsters collect customer data. With this information, many cheaters also steal data through fake keyboards. So do not transact from any ATM located in secluded areas, use only the ATM located outside the bank branch or the ATM located in a congested area.

Bank check account fraud

Fraudsters can deceive people by making calls from a particular bank and they may steal your money when you share your bank account details. All customers should check their bank accounts from time to time and if they do not withdraw any money, they should immediately inform the bank.

Credit / debit card cloning

This is another way to commit a scam like ATM skimming. In this, after taking all the information from the card, a duplicate card is made and then it is used to take it from the account.

WhatsApp fake calls

Nowadays, fake calls are made through WhatsApp where the fraudster asks for money. As soon as you receive such a call from an unknown number, block the number. The caller can deceive you and take your money.
